About Artist

He was born as the son of Ahmad bin Âdil from the town of Berdai in Iran. After completing his education in his hometown, he joined the service of Ardabiloğlu as a scribe. However, when his master was defeated in the conflict with Shah Ismâ'il, he fled to Anatolia and came under the protection of the Ottomans. He traveled to Amasya, Bursa and then Istanbul.

While in Istanbul, he received a new education from Shaykh Muhyiddîn İskilibî and Mu'eyyedzâde Abdurrahman Efendi. Although he was a valuable calligrapher in the Yâqut Style, which he learned from the calligraphers of his hometown, he again studied thuluth and naskh from Sheikh Hamdullah, whom he met here. After completing his education, he became a mudarris and worked in Bursa for a long time. Although he was later transferred to Istanbul, he died there in 923 or 924 AH (1518-1519 AD).
