About Artist
Born in Afyonkarahisar as the son of İsmail Efendi, he developed an interest in calligraphy while in Istanbul for his madrasa education, and began studying thuluth and naskh scripts under Hüseyin Hablî. Although he completed his education, he could not secure a position as a professor, so he opened a confectionery shop and engaged in trade. He was a skilled calligrapher in naskh, riq‘a, and ta'liq scripts, the latter of which it is not known from whom he learned. He was engaged in copying religious and scholarly works, and it is understood that he wrote many manuscripts before his death. However, the date of his death and his burial place could not be determined.
