About Artist

Born in Kirkuk, Iraq, in 1981, he graduated from the Electronics Department of a vocational high school. In 1998, he embarked on his calligraphic journey, studying the Riq'a, Naskh, and Thuluth scripts under the guidance of Eyup Halil in Kirkuk. During this formative period, he was profoundly influenced by the masterworks of Ottoman calligraphers. With his mentor's blessing, he relocated to Istanbul in 2004 to further his education, studying Naskh calligraphy under the renowned Master Calligrapher Mehmed Özçay and Thuluth calligraphy under the distinguished Master Calligrapher Osman Özçay. Beyond the art of calligraphy itself, he mastered various technical aspects of the craft under Mehmed Özçay's tutelage, including traditional paper sizing, muraqqa (album) making, pre-press preparation, and color separation techniques. A significant milestone in his career came during Ramadan of 2010 when he participated in the prestigious International Quran Manuscript Meeting in Dubai, organized by the UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Social Development. There, he completed the transcription of the 29th juz of the Quran in Naskh script, followed by the 17th juz in 2011. In 2014, he received his ijazah (traditional certification) in Naskh from his esteemed teacher, Master Calligrapher Mehmed Özçay. Since then, he has actively participated in numerous exhibitions and cultural events across multiple countries. Today, he remains actively engaged in his calligraphic practice.
