About Artist
Born in Baghdad in 1977, Deraja received
a bachelor’s degree from the Academy
of Fine Arts. He was commissioned
and honoured to write the Holy Quran
by the Iraqi Ministry of Awqaf. Deraja
was awarded the first prize at the Holy
Quran writing contest held in Turkey. He
participated in Dubai Ramadan Forum for
Holy Quran Calligraphy five times and was
awarded three times.
