About Artist
Tayyibî Mehmed Sa'id Efendi, who was among the aghas of the Imperial Palace and one of the companions of Sultan Selim III, acquired his proficiency in calligraphy during his education at the Enderun Imperial Palace School. He studied under Seyyid Mehmed Nurî Efendi, one of the imperial palace scribes, from whom he received his ijazah (certificate of competency). It is understood that he was discharged from the palace following the deposition of the aforementioned Sultan. While it is known that he passed away while in a state of dismissal, neither the date of his death nor the location of his burial has been ascertained.
