About Artist
Born in Istanbul as the son of Grand Vizier Emin Pasha, he received an excellent education and upbringing in his father's household before being admitted to the Enderûn Imperial School. There, he studied religious sciences and received training in calligraphy, specifically in thuluth and naskh scripts, from Eğrikapılı Mehmed Rasim Efendi. After holding several minor positions within the palace, he was appointed to the service of Sultan Abdulhamid I as a sword-bearer in 1188 AH (1774 AD). However, due to his keen interest in scholarly pursuits, he was granted a professorship a few years later and dismissed from palace service.
After completing his term in teaching, he transitioned to the scholarly class, attaining the post of Rumelia. While serving as the Chief Judge of Anatolia, he passed away in 1225 AH (1810 AD) and was buried in the area behind the Eyüp Sultan Mausoleum.
