Mohammed Amzil

Calligrapher and painter Mohammed

Amzil was born in 1964 and graduated

from the l’Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-

Arts in Casablanca. He obtained his

certificate in thuluth-naskh from

calligrapher Hasan Çelebi at a ceremony

held at IRCICA headquarters. He is the

President of the Moroccan Association

of Calligraphy, General Secretary of the

Moroccan National Association of Plastic

Arts, and Advisor of the Moroccans Plastic

Artists Syndicate. He was a jury member

of the National Calligraphy Exhibition

of the Oman Arts Plastiques Association

(2011), and Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial

(UAE, 2014). Amzil held exhibitions and

workshops in a number of countries and

presented papers on calligraphy and

illumination in various congresses.
