Born in 1962, Mukhtar Alim Mufid al-

Rahman is a graduate of Umm Al-Qura

University, Faculty of Education. He

received a masters degree in calligraphy

at his alma mater and studied calligraphy

under the supervision of Muhammed

Hasan Ebulhayr. He taught calligraphy

courses at various summer schools and

at Umm Al-Qura University. He is a hafiz

of the holy Quran, one of the founding

members of the Saudi Calligraphy Group

in Jeddah and wrote the calligraphy on the

cover of Kaaba. Alim Mufid al-Rahman

currently teaches calligraphy at the Harem

Institute in Mecca.
