Sheikh Abdul Ghaffar Afandy

He was born in Mudurnu as Sheikh Mehmed Shah's son. In Istanbul, where he pursued madrasah education, he developed an interest in calligraphy and studied the six calligraphic scripts with Sheikh Hamdullah. After completing his education, he became a mudarris, but he quit and moved to Edirne in response to the prayers of an ulema. Here, he got spiritual guidance from Shaykh Ramazan Efendi and received his final instruction. In this state, he passed away in AH 934/ AD 1527/1528, having been occupied with preaching and dhikr after attaining khilafa. He was exceptional in both poetry and prose.
