Wang Qi Fei

Born in 1989, Wang Qi Fei started

developing a great interest in the art

of calligraphy at the age of nine, and

converted to Islam at the age of twelve. In

2008, he was sent by the Islamic Society

of China to study at the University of

al-Azhar in Qairo where he started taking

calligraphy lessons from Belaid Hamidi

at the Al-Halaqa Foundation for Heritage

Revival. In 2017, at the calligraphy festival

organized by IRCICA in Indonesia, he

received his certificate in diwani, jaly

diwani, taliq, maghribi, riqa and thuluthnaskh

scripts and became the first Chinese

calligrapher with a certificate.
