About Artist
There is no information about the life of Âdem Efendi, who was from Amid (Diyarbakir). It is known that the calligrapher, who had his works labeled as Âdem al-Amidî, was skilled in ta'liq as well as aqlām al-sittah (i.e. the six calligraphic scripts). It is reported that he was an exceptionally skilled calligrapher in ta'liq, which he learned from Hâfiz Bulak Uzbek, and that he "wrote the Qasidah al-Burda for fifty gold coins".
