Born in 1991 in Ain Leuh in Morocco,

Salim Hamidi began studying calligraphy

with the encouragement of his father

Belaid Hamidi in 2006. He traveled to

Egypt with his father to implement the

project entitled “Revival of the Heritage

of the Traditional Certifications” for

students of Al-Azhar University in Cairo

where he resumed his calligraphy studies

in riqa, diwani, jaly diwani, taliq and jaly

taliq scripts. Afterwards he moved to

Istanbul to study with masters Hasan

Çelebi, Davut Bektaş, Ferhat Kurlu and

Ahmet Koçak. He obtained his certificates

in diwani and jaly diwani scripts in 2013,

and in taliq script in 2014, both from the

master Hasan Çelebi.
