About Artist
His birthplace is Tabriz. While studying at a madrasa in Baghdad, he learned the six different types of calligraphy from Yaqut al-Mustasimi and was awarded the ijazah. The date of his death and the location of his burial are unknown, but it is speculated that he eventually returned to Tabriz and passed away there while engaged in calligraphy. He is considered as the most influential jali master of his time.

Müstakimzâde Süleyman Sâdeddin, Tuhfe-i Hattatin
Künde-nüvîs ya’nî celî-nüvîs idi. Bağdâdî’dir. O nâmdaş-ı Kerrâr-ı Ebü’d-Dür Yâkût-ı Müsta’sımî’nin bi’z-zât dest-i tahinilerinden kavâ’id-i hutût-ı mütenevvi’ayı ve bi’l-hâssa celi kalemi müstakil temeşşuk ile tedârük-i meleke-i külliyye eylemiştir.
Be-hatt-ı û nenüvîsed keşi meğer Yâkût
Düldül-i hayâtını dest-i Kanber-i ecel raht-ı haydarî-i merg ile tesrîc ve “kevser” (726) târihinde sernt-i sâkî-i kevser-i bekaya tahrîk-i rikâb-ı tahrîc eyledi.
